Hello - Welcome to my website

Since July 2003 my lampwork beads have their own virtual home here.
From now on this website will be mostly in English although this is not my native language. I hope you'll have fun looking at my beads and bear with me if some things sound funny - sometimes my translation might just not be to the point...

The new Beads of the Month for April are out!

Spring has been unusually early here and I love to take a stroll through our garden every day to look for new little treasures, so how could I not make flower beads this time of year??? Enjoy...

The new April "Beads of the Month" will be here on monday, April 2

I can't believe how time flies... the older I get the faster it seems - in case you wonder, I'm 38 - really not that old ;-) recently I read a great journal by one of my favorite authors, Bianka Bleier: 40 werden immer nur die anderen - that would be something like: only other people turn 40... it's actually not really about the age of 40 but more about changes in your every day life - and I love to read journals... - well, how did I get here??? oh yes, I wanted to say that at least it doesn't feel like six weeks since my last update ;-))

But then, for weeks I wanted to show you these pictures of some beautiful and lovely jewelry. Please join me in looking at a few new creations by three talented artists who worked with my beads and that I have the honor to showcase in the designer gallery.

Agi Mezösi of perlipop.ch
Lisa Liddy of Joolz by Lisa and
Tresna Wulan

Thank you so much Agi, Lisa and Tresna for letting me share your beauties, you make my heart smile

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! Hope you'll receive something special from your loved one and have a great day.
I've mentioned before that besides making beads scrapbooking is another passion of mine and sometimes I'm asked to share something of my "scrap-stuff" with you, so I thought I'd show you this little paper-piecing I made... :-)) The bears are handtorn from mulberry paper...
By the way, new beads of the month are in the making but they will take a little longer still ...

With a blanket of snow outside covering the fields, painting everything white and also with Valentine's Day close, my motto for the new bead specials is definitely: Think Spring, Think Love... You'll find some encase florals and lots of hearts, quite a few beads in several styles - that's just what makes beadmaking special for me, not being limited to just one kind of beads - ENJOY

Just a very short update to let you know the new specials will be online tomorrow (wednesday, Jan. 24) from 11 a.m. Pacific Time on...

Phew, I'm so glad this hurricane Kyrill is through now. The night has been a bit scary. We have some old, skinny but big trees close to the house and they were very much shaken and bending down low so that I was afraid they might fall onto the roof or the car. But thank God nothing much happened. Trains were all cancelled though, so this is an unexpected day off of work for my DH today ;-)

Actually I wanted to have the new specials ready for today, but unfortunately I haven't been well the last week (I guess that's just the time of year, isn't it?), so I decided to rather schedule them for coming wednesday, Jan. 24, as I didn't get all the beads made that I had planned. But I thought I could show you a little bit of what I've been working on. This is an encased flower heart, I really do love this bead but it is almost impossible to photograph...

Would you like to receive an email notification when I have new beads? I do have kind of a short newsletter whenever there is something new. Just drop me a line and I'll put you on the list.

Happy New Year to all of you!

I've been asked if I still make beads. Oh my, that hit the spot and made me realize for how long my updates had been neglected... Yes, I do :-)) And I enjoy it even a little bit more now, because we've taken the last 2 weeks off of work to do some remodeling on the first floor of our little house. Among that my office, my husband's study and also my little studio. I finally painted the walls, never had time for that before and as it's quite a small room and rather dark, the white walls always looked grey and somehow "unfriendly". So now they are sunshine yellow with a color wash, gives me a much happier and warmer feeling when I'm at the torch (as if that wouldn't be warm enough... ;-) ) I still need pictures on the walls again and some more deco...

I thought I'd show you some pictures although they are not very good but I think you can get an impression of where I work (the pictures on my "studio page" are still old, I'll have to update that now). The window looks funny, actually I have a great view :-)) And see the chaos on my workbench??? I think that speaks for itself that I'm indeed making beads ;-) Hope to have some new specials by the end of next week...

Have a very Merry Christmas
and a wonderful New Year 2007

It's been some busy weeks here but now we're finally getting ready for the vacation that we've been looking forward to for so long, in fact we'll leave tomorrow for our favorite island of Sylt. Being this late in the year, maybe we're lucky and have some snow there, snow on the dunes would surely make for fantastic photos ... They don't have snow on Sylt very often, but this November it might just be possible, after all we had the very first snow here on November 1 - brrrr - even some leaves have still been green, that's more like winter in autumn ...

So while we're away and you won't find any new beads here in November, I thought I'd do an update on the designers' gallery so you'll have some eyecandy to drool over :-))

I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the following artists for mailing some of their photos of the beautiful jewelry they've created with my beads. You are just GREAT!!! And I'm always amazed at the many different ideas everyone has. Thank you so very much for sharing them, you make my heart smile :-)).

Agi Mezösi
Holly Howe
Jayne A. Robertson

These are just a few "teasers", all in all there are 14 new pictures, so take a look...

Don't you just love this time of year? I do, absolutely and completely. I could take photos of our garden, capturing the rich autumn colors in the changing light every day (actually I do and I must admit that's one thing my DH envies me a little because when he leaves for work it's still dark and when he returns in the evening it's almost dark again, so he can enjoy the autumn colors only on weekends...)

So of course my love for this season can also be seen in the new Ocotber Beads of the Month, there are several sets in Autumn colors as well. Take a look, I just put them up...

Just a short note to let you know that unfortunately I'll have to postpone the October Beads update till wednesday (Oct. 11 - 11 a.m. Pacific Time) because I'd caught myself a bad cold and have spent the last couple of days mostly in bed... I'm not happy about not sticking to the date but everyone convinced me that it would be best to have two more days to feel fit again and I think they are right ... ;-)

Yesterday was National Holiday in Germany (Tag der Deutschen Einheit), kind of like July 4 in the USA. But there are not many big celebrations here, it's just a day off for most people. And as it was a tuesday this year that made it a wonderful long weekend for us :-))I guess it still has to do with history that we Germans are not so much into celebrating our country. I must say I always enjoy Americans displaying their pride in their country, wearing those red, white and blue colors on July 4, including such details as matching red/white/blue jewelry.

Are you wondering about the October Beads of the Month? I'm still working on them, I've got several sets already but I've got a few more ideas and I want you to have a wide variety to chose from. Actually I had planned to have them ready till friday, but now I have the workmen here tomorrow because of the heating system which means I'll probably not be able to get to the torch. Which also means that the beads will be here on monday...

Meanwhile I'm more than happy to show you some new additions to the Designers' gallery. When I find an email in my inbox that includes a photo of your jewelry it's always a BIG joy to me - I catch myself smiling from ear to ear ... THANK YOU SO MUCH, you are such creative artists and I'm proud to see my beads in your jewelry!

So please take a look at the designers' gallery to find new photos by:

Here comes another set to show you my love of purple :-)) This is just such an enchanting fairytale color that I always think of "1001 nights" when making purple beads. I called this set Amirah, which in the Arab language means Princess and expresses all that I feel when looking at these little gems (you can find them on ebay)...
